Tarsiers

Gazing into Those Big Eyes.

Visiting the Tarsier Bohol Conservation Area felt like stepping into a whimsical world where the tiniest primates reign supreme! These adorable, gremlin-like creatures with their enormous eyes can fit right in the palm of your hand, and they have a unique charm that’s both macabre and cute. This sanctuary is arguably the best spot in the world to see them up close, and I was excited to start my adventure. After a short introductory video about these fascinating little beings, I set off along slightly hilly, winding paths that felt cozy and intimate. The narrow trails added to the charm, making it feel like a secret journey into their world.

As I wandered deeper into the sanctuary, I was grateful for the knowledgeable guides who helped spot the tarsiers nestled among the leaves. Their passion was infectious, and they expertly pointed out these elusive creatures hiding in their low-light hideaways. I even got some great photos and videos, capturing those magical moments that might have slipped by unnoticed. While the souvenir shop offered plenty of fun options, I found the t-shirt designs a bit cartoonish—beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder! Some improvements to the parking area would be nice, but overall, my visit was a delightful blend of adventure and learning about these incredible little beings.
