Boudhanath Stupa
From Prayer Flags to Perfect Pics.
One of my favorite spots to photograph is Boudhanath Stupa in Kathmandu, Nepal. Traveling through the bustling roads of Kathmandu is an adventure in itself. The heavy traffic can be quite the challenge, especially with the city's deep-rooted love and respect for cattle. It’s not uncommon to find yourself waiting for these sacred animals to roam across the road, creating a unique rhythm to the chaos as vehicles come to a standstill until they decide to move.
Once I reach Boudhanath, the spiritual energy is truly mesmerizing. As I stroll around the stupa, I find myself enchanted by the sight of pilgrims spinning prayer wheels, monks chanting, and people from all walks of life soaking in the peaceful atmosphere. The stupa itself is stunning, with its iconic white dome, the all-seeing eyes of Buddha, and colorful prayer flags fluttering in the wind. I highly recommend visiting early in the morning or around sunset when the vibe is calm and the stupa is beautifully lit. It’s an ideal spot to meditate, reflect, or simply enjoy the moment. Plus, there are several cozy rooftop cafes nearby where you can sip a cup of tea while taking in the view. You can easily spend a few hours here, soaking in the serenity and exploring the small shops filled with Tibetan artifacts, prayer flags, and souvenirs. It’s a little slice of peace amidst.
