Huanglong Valley
A Colorful Journey Above the Clouds.
A while back, I had the incredible opportunity to explore the stunning beauty of Huanglong Valley in Sichuan, perched over 3,000 meters above sea level. Getting there from Chengdu, the gateway city of Sichuan, used to be quite a trek, but thankfully, the new high-speed train from Chengdu Dong Station to Huanglong Jiuzhai Station makes the journey a breeze—just two hours! Once I arrived at the bus parking point, I had two options: take a scenic seven-minute ropeway ride or stroll along a beautifully paved wooden path for about 3 kilometers. I opted for the cable car to save my energy for exploring the wonders that awaited me.
As I made my way down the trail, surrounded by colorful ponds and ancient temples, I was in awe of the vibrant turquoise and azure waters of the limestone terraces, especially after a fresh snowfall. The landscape here is unlike anything I’ve seen before, with snow-capped peaks framing the scene perfectly. I highly recommend taking the cable car one way and hiking down—it’s a fantastic way to experience the breathtaking sights while enjoying a lovely hike. If you're planning a day trip, don’t forget to pack a lunch or grab a snack from one of the local vendors. Trust me, you’ll want to savor every moment in this natural paradise!
