Taal Volcano

The Volcano Trek Experience.

Hiking up Taal Volcano was an absolute thrill that connected me to the raw, untamed power of nature! I had the joy of visiting three times before the recent eruptions, and each adventure revealed breathtaking beauty that truly left me in awe. To reach the crater, I rented a tricycle to the lakeshore, hopped on a boat tour that rocked and rolled with the waves, and then rode a trusty horse up to the crater. The 40-minute trek was totally worth it, especially when I reached the top and stood on the viewing platforms, soaking in those stunning vistas—even if the sulfuric smell was a little intense!

Every trip felt like a unique adventure bursting with excitement. Sure, the boat ride could get a bit bumpy on windy days, but the vibrant communities around the foothills, complete with their charming local eateries, just added to the experience. Since volcanic activity ramped up during the pandemic, Taal has been closed to the public, but I feel so lucky to have experienced its beauty three times! Now, I admire the volcano from afar while enjoying some delicious bulalo at cozy restaurants and cafes in Tagaytay, cherishing those memories of adventure and wonder.
