Jiufen, Yehliu, and Shifen
A Scenic Journey of Wonders and Wishes
We took the bus from Taipei Main Station to Yehliu Geopark, a scenic 45-minute ride that set the tone for a day of exploring Taiwan’s stunning natural and cultural treasures. Our first stop was Yehliu, where the power of nature takes center stage. The wind and waves have sculpted breathtaking rock formations over thousands of years, including the iconic Queen’s Head—a true masterpiece of nature’s artistry that left me in awe. Capturing these unique geological wonders through my lens was a photographer's dream, with every angle offering a new perspective on this surreal landscape.
Next, we found ourselves wandering through Jiufen, a historic hillside town that transports you back in time. The charming, lantern-lit alleyways were filled with the aroma of delicious local treats, creating an atmosphere that felt almost magical. I felt inspired by the town’s nostalgic vibe, reminiscent of the beloved animated film "Spirited Away." Finally, we made our way to Shifen, where the thrill of releasing a sky lantern—symbolizing hopes and dreams—only added to the experience. Standing by the stunning Shifen Waterfall, Taiwan’s very own "Niagara Falls," I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the beauty surrounding me. This journey through Zhongzheng District was a perfect blend of culture, nature, and unforgettable memories.
