As the sun dipped toward the horizon, casting a golden glow over the Li River, I found myself in the company of an extraordinary Cormorant fisherman. We had hired this seasoned pro, his weathered smile and deep-rooted knowledge of the river instantly putting us at ease. With two cormorants perched gracefully on a bamboo pole, he guided us through the art of capturing the perfect shot. “Angle it this way for the best light,” he advised, as the birds dove into the shimmering water on command, showcasing their skills in the most spectacular fashion.

With my long lens in hand, I felt the thrill of the shoot unfold against the dramatic backdrop of the famous Guilin limestone mountains. The rocky river beneath us added an exhilarating element, and despite the chilly water, I was completely immersed in the moment. As the light faded and the sky transformed into a canvas of colors, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for this unique experience.
