Shangri-La
Altitude with Attitude.
Nestled in the breathtaking landscapes of Shangri-La, Yunnan, about 4,000m above sea-level, I found myself at an elevation that took my breath away—quite literally! It took me several days to acclimatize to the thin mountain air, but every moment was worth it. Renting a car allowed me the freedom to explore this enchanting region, where the stunning vistas seemed to stretch on forever. The vibrant culture and warm hospitality of the Tibetan people drew me in, making my journey feel even more special.
One of the highlights of my trip was spending a day with a local Tibetan family, sharing their delicious cuisine. They introduced me to a unique delicacy: shredded yak or yag, or as I affectionately call it, hairy mountain cow. Sitting around the table, surrounded by laughter and stories, I felt an incredible connection to the land and its people. Each bite was a taste of tradition, adding layers to my travel photography experience. Shangri-La is not just a place; it’s a feeling, a memory that lingers long after you’ve left.
